First off I attempted to replace my older Harman Kardon AVR 745 by upgrading with what I thought would be a upgrade to an Onkyo TX NR3008, needless to say it went back and I got all my money back, loved all the features but the sound comparison did not compare to the old HK 745. So then I tried the Yamaha RX-A3000 and another receiver returned and got my money back, loved all the features of the Yamaha better than the Onkyo, up-scaling was impressive as was all the hdmi inputs with dual hdmi outs! But, the sound the Yamaha put out did not compare to the clean crisp hear every detailed highs, mids and bass output of the old HK 745. Finally decided to stay with Harman and got the HK AVR 7550hd, glad I did, incredible sound, extremely powerful, really detailed sound output, crisp sharp highs, mids are incredible and the bass output sounds awesome on my custom home built bigboy speakers. If you are looking for good video up-scaling and that is your only concern then look at the Yamaha, but the sound output will be lacking, actually disappointing. Every feature on the Harman works like it should!!
