(More customer reviews)i ordered these to replace a pair of jbl xpl 160 circa 1991. so my standards were high, i also wanted a pair of speakers that would be a 2.0 sound system. i was having difficulty finding one i thought could handle the bass considering most speakers today are made for movies/ addition of sub. i am pleasently surprised with the sound of these speakers. best sound does come from a cd player tho... dunno why? anyways when taking them to about 25 , my numbers start on 60 and count down the higher i go on the nob, so about 11 oclock when playing sublime's what i got, that literally NO JOKE things were falling off the wall. i had to screw in special things on my canvases to hold the nails or else they fall off. the mids and highs are astounding when played from a source like cd. they light up red when in auto and the amp is off, and when the amp is on they glow white. im going to take pics and post them soon. i will say that the speakers were damaged in shipping.... twice the second time i just accepted it because it was minor, but the first was totally bent corner, these are heavy and huge, they will most likely be damaged in shipping so i am pleased to say amazon just shipped a new on out the day i refused delivery, luckily the guy waited for me to open and inspect before expecting me to sign for them. i wish i had got he 212's, but they were much more expensive...... im hunting some!!!!! becuase im sure they are the best speaker for 2.0 sound on the market right now, at like any price.... i mean my speakers are lacking NOTHING... but the extra 300 watts per speaker internally amped would be nice as well as the extra mid driver. these are four way and the 6'1/2 inch woofers really work their butt off.... aside from the sub. but 2 12' and 8" woffers that work this hard would make music lovers cry. it is a true four way speaker which is beyond cool. honestly i cant imagine buying anything else..... i was looking at 2polk rti12's with 2pws 505 subs, but i heard them in person and knew they needed subs also i am not as happy with subs for music, i think it may be purely because ive always had 2.0 systems that im biased.... anyways i am soooo happy with these speakers... the only thing i would get rid of them for are the 212's... so if u have the money and love 2.0 music these or the 212s will NOT let u down. but they will annoy the neighbor or pets, and unless ur stuff is properly hung ull be replacing picture frames.............
update, sept 28th 2010
i decided to go all out with the amp. therefore i purchased parasound halo a21 amp and halo p3 pre amp. 250 watts per channel at 8 ohms. well the volume goes to 80, and i was lingering in the low seventies for about 4 songs, first was andrea bocielli "time to say goodbye", then it was on to dave mathews best of whats around, anyways i blew the mid...... ive contacted cerwin vega and they are gunna have me ship it to them, on their dime, and repair it then ship it back! so i guess we'll see how long the process takes. but so far contact has been great and the customer service is GREAT!
NOTE. it was only one speaker that blew its mid...
