No component or composite inputs
No coax input
No XM or AM radioSo, with all of these features, I can tell you that this is ok if you have a small space and no children. The finish is very glossy and shows every bit of dust and fingerprints and likely will easily scratch. The sound is a bit lacking when compared to a a true 7.1 system with a good (Onkyo) receiver. So, even though this decodes DTS-HD as well as DD True HD, it's kind of useless with this system. While it will decode those, you will not really get to appreciate it. Also, the sub is a bit weak. You have a 3 channel amp to run 2 speakers and the sub. So, if you simply do not have the room and you have to worry about neighbors, this is an okay system. I was thinking about giving this 4 stars, but after all, you can do better without spending that much more.

I bought 2 of these subs 2 weeks ago and wow. the performance is amazing i have them hooked up to a rockford t 1500 1bd and in a ported box. the box is massive but if you have the trunk space definetly worth buying. these subs hit so hard my roof flexes. its hard to describe in words the bass impact that these subs produce but you feel every baseline in your back.

Sony HTCT100 Sound Bar with Subwoofer - Black Review

Sony HTCT100 Sound Bar with Subwoofer - Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I tried several 2.1 speaker systems to enhance the sound from our LCD HDTV. The 2.1 speaker systems used the RCA audio output from the TV but I was never satisfied with the quality of the sound, even from the Bose Companion system. I think part of the problem is with the low-level output of the TV's RCA audio connection and for this reason I decided to look for a speaker system that could take advantage of my HDTV's digital optical audio output connection. I also didn't want to have a five-speaker system all around the room and so I focused my search on soundbar-type systems. The Sony HT-CT100, just recently introduced, fit the bill perfectly and comes at a price much lower than the Yamaha and Philips soundbar systems with optical inputs.
The Sony HT-CT100 produces great sound. The speaker bar is very low profile and takes up very little space whether you sit it in front of the TV or hang it on the wall. The subwoofer is large (about the size of a desktop PC) and sits on the floor. The subwoofer has a nice display along the top edge of the box to tell you the various system settings. Best of all, the 200 watt amplifier (built-in to the subwoofer) has multiple HDMI and optical audio inputs and acts as the control center for a complete home theater/sound system. This was an unexpected bonus -no need for a separate home theater receiver. Just plug your satellite system, DVD player(s), game consoles, etc. right into the HT-CT100 and control everything from the remote. It's an elegant solution and I haven't seen anything else quite like it. Since the system takes in digital video/audio directly, you get to enjoy full Dolby Digital surround sound. The system can belt out remarkable volume levels and rich, deep bass. The speaker bar has left, right, and center channel speakers along with the remote control IR sensor. The Sony remote supplied with the system will control all your Sony components; however, if your HDTV, DVD player(s), etc. are not Sony brand (like mine), then be prepared to buy a universal learning remote in order to program the HT-CT100 commands. While I can decipher having several remote controls, I prefer to use a single remote control so that my family has an easier time turning on the TV or watching DVDs. The price of the Sony soundbar system is very reasonable considering its power output and multiple digital video/audio inputs to control your home theater. The quality is impressive (though I did have to return my first system due to a soundbar speaker buzz -my second system is flawless) and it looks and sounds like high-end gear. When I shop for items like this, I look at features, quality, and price without regard to the brand. In this case, Sony simply has a product that works great and provides an elegant solution for those wanting home theater sound in a low-profile package. It's a winner.

Bring your movies to life with the HT-CT100. With three HDMI inputs on tap, this system is tailor made for anyone looking for an easy, quick, and great-sounding solution for their home theater. It can playback LPCM from the HDMI connection, plus you can listen to your favorite music from the DIGITAL MEDIA PORT that works with various accessories (sold separately). The HT-CT100 can also control a select number of BRAVIA televisions with BRAVIA Sync via the HDMI interface. With "One Touch Play," operations that normally take several steps have been reduced to one.

Logitech Z-5450 Digital 5.1 Speaker System ( 970181-0403 ) Review

Logitech Z-5450 Digital 5.1 Speaker System ( 970181-0403 )
Average Reviews:

These speakers work well, they produce good sound, and the controls and optical inputs work great too. However, if you or your neighbors have a WiFi (IEEE 802.11b or 802.11g) 2.4GHz wireless ethernet network, the wireless rear surround speakers in this speaker system will step all over the 802.11 WiFi network. I used a spectrum analyzer to see what was going on, and this speaker system appears to use frequency-hopping spread spectrum indiscriminately.
Wireless speakers are a great idea, particularly for situations when running the wires would be impractical or ugly, but this particular implementation is incompatible with 802.11b/g WiFi networks. If this is not a concern to you (you *and* your neighbors are not using other 2.4GHz wireless products), then this speaker system may work well for you.

Klipsch SW-450 10-Inch 450watt Subwoofer (Black) Review

Klipsch SW-450 10-Inch 450watt Subwoofer (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am a frequent poster over at the AVSForum and most people in their will absolutely tell you that HSU, SVS, etc. are better subs than Klipsch. While that may be true, there are some of us that support our local B&M stores or prefer the convenience of being able to get in the car and return it and be back out the door with a new one within an hour. I am one of those people who likes the ease of B&M stores.
Initially I had a Martin Logan Dynamo 500 and it sounded great, except for the fact that it couldn't get the couch shaking before bottoming out. The ML was very musical, but for Home Theater use it just didn't do the trick. My BluRay test for subwoofer extension is the pixar shorts, Jack Jack Attack (where the baby does CAMPFIRE) and Lifted (where the man is first being lifted before he bumps into the wall). The ML made clapping noises during both of these scenes which clued me in that this wasn't the sub for me.
I took it back and got the Klipsch SW-450 at my local B&M store. I took it home and plugged in Transformers Revenge of the Fallen and it sounded pretty good. I then went to my test BluRay Pixar shorts scenes and I was happy that it didn't bottom out. It didn't have the musical punch that I had with the ML, but it extended low without bottoming out and that was good enough for me.
Having been a basshead most of my life, I knew that the sub would need some burn in time before sounding it's best so I played some 120hz down to 25hz test sweeps for about two days while I was away at work. I went back to my same test BluRay Pixar scenes and I was amazed at something...not only could I hear the bass, I could feel the low tones that aren't audible. I was absolutely impressed with this. Still I felt it was missing the punch of the ML so I moved it from one corner to the opposite and sure enough that corner gave me the punch I wanted. Unfortunately it also took away the feeling of the lower HZ frequencies.
My options were have it in corner for music and the other for home theater. This isn't very realistic so I decided that I loved the SW-450 so much that I would just buy another one which would even out the bass response in my home theater. I can say that two are better than one and I can hear, feel and be mesmerized by the bass these two put out. The speaker is well built and the amplifier is a Class D 450W MAX and 200W RMS.
If your on the fence about the Klipsch, take an opportunity to hear for yourself and decide if it's for you. If not you can always return it and buy one from and ID, but at least give it a listen!!!

Smartly packaged and designed. Fits nicely in a corner. Easy to set up with excellent instructions. Sub produces a strong and focused low end. Great with music and provides that "wow factor" with movies. Can't go back to the 700.

Grotto i deploys the full array of MartinLogan's advanced subwoofer technologies to achieve deep, rich, satisfying bass while preserving electrostatic-like accuracy and detail. Its advanced low-distortion switching amplifier and sophisticated servo control system extract the very best possible performance from Grotto i's high-resolution 10-inch aluminum-cone driver. A powerful 300 watt (900 watt peak) low-distortion, high-reliability amplifier gives Grotto i extremely articulate bass without need of exaggerated amplifier power ratings or transient-blurring ported or passive radiator enclosures common to many modern subwoofers. A proprietary servo system further ensures that output from Grotto i's 10-inch high-resolution aluminum cone woofer is dramatically free of distortion and provides a faithful replica of the audio input signal. An optimized selection of connections and controls allow connection of both 2-channel stereo music and multi-channel home theater while allowing each connection to have unique crossover and level settings. LFE input effectively uses no low-pass filter, leaving crossover control to the processor. Left/right line level and speaker level inputs integrate six discrete audiophile grade low-pass filters between 30-80Hz allowing a different level and crossover point when playing back two channel music. RCA output allows multiple Grotto i subwoofers to operate in series. A unique 25Hz level control allows adjustment of system response by 10dB to eliminate low-frequency build-up or suck-out at a room's most problematic bass frequency. ETC spikes couple the sub directly to the floor, minimizing lost energy and allowing tight, well defined bass in any system.
