I bought this because I have always liked Cerwin Vega's speaker sound. I have two sets of LS 12s and center channel and rear surround sound Cerwin Vega Speakers. I had not heard the sub woofer in a store.
It is front firing, but the ports are to the rear of the speaker box. This seems to detract from the sound I was use to with both my AudioSource and Sony 12 inch subs. They were both front firing and had large ports on the front and the sound was great. If I were to buy again, I would buy a sub that has the ports on the front with a front firing 12 inch speaker.
